COAST FILM FOUNDATION

Ben Warner, Founder of Coast Film Festival and crew

The Coast Film and Music Festival launched the Coast Film Foundation in 2022 to further its mission and build sustainable programs with a lasting impact. The vision is to bring together the outdoor and ocean communities, united by a passion for the outdoors and adventure, through the power of film. Our programs recognize films, filmmakers, professional athletes, artists, and change-makers to amplify their stories and build community with a platform for meaningful engagement and collaboration.

Our Mission

To promote and foster an appreciation for film, filmmakers, and their important stories that entertain, educate, and inspire audiences and influence positive social and environmental change.

Our Purpose

To make a positive impact locally and globally using the power of film and storytelling and support the next generation of filmmakers through programs, grants, and scholarships.

COAST FILM FOUNDATION PROGRAMS

Coast Film & Music Festival

Founded in 2019, The Coast Film & Music Festival, held in Laguna Beach, California in November, is an annual showcase of adventure and non-fiction films and stories from the mountains to the sea. Stories are curated to entertain, inform, and inspire audiences of all ages to push personal boundaries and be better stewards of the planet.

Coast Summit

An Environmental Symposium sparking conversation and interaction with leading change makers who are filmmakers, professional athletes, sustainability experts, and more to highlight the resilience of the human spirit and our capacity to make a difference, spark ideas, and inspire action together. The program includes speaker panels, workshops, and opportunities to share experiences and exchange ideas.

Do Good Village

A curated space during the Coast Film & Music Festival with local environmental nonprofits and scheduled programs to connect and amplify the voices and educate the community about their work. United by a shared purpose, the joint objective is to motivate, educate, and enable individuals to make a lasting, positive difference in their surroundings, families, and broader communities by providing them with the necessary resources and tools.

Film Grants

Coast Film Foundation is committed to supporting documentary filmmakers in telling stories that support our mission to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences and influence positive social and environmental change. The Film Grants are focused on supporting documentary filmmakers in the production or post-production stages. Learn more on how you can get involved with our current Film Grant Projects below!

Coast K-12 Educational Programs

Curated speaker and film presentations at local schools to introduce adventure and conservation stories that spark curiosity and adventure in young students.

Emerging Filmmaker Student Program

We are committed to the next generation of storytellers and provide various ways to inspire and motivate young filmmakers.

During our annual film festival, we offer a student film showcase and awards for filmmakers from local Orange County middle and high schools. This has inspired two local schools to start film education programs in which we are invited to judge and award films entered into our annual film festival.

A student filmmaker scholarship of $1,500 is awarded to a graduating LBHS senior.

Community Movie Nights

In partnership with Rivian, we curate purpose-driven films for twice-weekly shows and monthly speaker panels at the Rivian South Coast Theater. The complimentary shows unite the community, promote important stories, and pay license fees to support the filmmakers.

Coast Film Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization tax-ID number 88-2009740.
