2024 CFMF Official Poster Artwork
How do you think your background and experiences have influenced your approach to creating art for this festival?
When I was approached to create artwork for the festival, I was genuinely excited about the opportunity. I envisioned incorporating the "from the mountains to the sea" theme from the Coast Film and Music Festival logo, which seemed like a natural fit for the event. However, the organizers had a unique idea—they wanted to feature some of my travel-inspired art from my print shop.
I was thrilled by this twist because it meant that my whimsical illustrations of Laguna, which have resonated so deeply with the community, would play a role in the festival. So, for this year's art, I’ve blended my original artwork with new elements, such as the Rivian Theatre and key locations related to the festival, and created a fun typography to go with it as well. It’s been a rewarding experience to merge my artistic vision with the festival’s spirit, creating something that celebrates the event and its setting.
Are there any specific elements or themes in your art that you hope will resonate with the festival audience?
My hope is that my artwork, with its interpretation of coastal vibes, will deeply resonate with festival-goers. My love for the ocean and the inspiration I draw from nature are at the heart of my work. I’m excited about the opportunity to connect with the audience through these shared passions, and I look forward to seeing how my artistic vision enhances the festival experience for everyone.
Is there anything else you'd like to share that you think would be important or interesting for the festival attendees to know about your work or your connection to the festival?
I have a print shop of not only Destination California locations that has expanded Into other themes and locations besides the beach. However I also have worked in the surf/outdoor industry as an artist for the past 20 years. I currently work as a lead textile artist at Patagonia and create work for brands and products whose philosophy and goals are aligned with my vision of art as a communication vehicle.
